Vice President for External Affairs at Cork Institute of Technology

Orla Flynn is Vice President for External Affairs at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), with over seventeen years’ experience in education management roles at CIT, where she led the CIT Crawford College of Art and Design for 8 years following successful chapters as Head of School of Humanities and Head of Department of Media Communications. Prior to this she was a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Computing at CIT for 13 years. Currently Orla’s responsibilities include external engagement, research and innovation, and internationalisation – each of these are pivotal institutional priorities for Cork Institute of Technology. Orla is currently a director on the boards of Cork Chamber of Commerce, CIT Innovation Centre, and Cork Midsummer Festival. She holds undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Maths, Physics and Computer Science from University College Cork, an MA in Management in Education from WIT, and has just completed a PhD at the Kemmy Business School in the University of Limerick.
